What To Expect
We begin our journey in Chordeleg, a picturesque town renowned for its exquisite silver jewelry and pottery. Stroll through the charming streets, visit the central plaza and historic church, and explore local shops offering unique handcrafted items. Watch artisans weaving 'Panama' hats and toquilla straw crafts as you wander. For those interested, we can visit Flavio Jara's workshop to learn about intricate filigree jewelry.
Next, we explore the colonial town of Gualaceo. Admire the beautiful colonial architecture and soak in the vibrant local ambiance. Visit the bustling market, filled with vivid colors, where you can sample delicious, freshly picked local fruits and savor the flavorful roasted pig, a regional specialty. Our final stop is the Jose Jimenez Ikat workshop, where you can witness the traditional weaving of shawls and ponchos on antique looms, using natural plant dyes.
